“You will regret.” The Palestinian authority said on Monday, July 28 that Israeli settlers had directed a new attack against the Christian people of Taybeh, in the downtown Bank occupied during the night.
“The Israeli settlers launched a terrorist attack that night against the Palestinian Christian people of Taybeh, burning Palestinian vehicles and labeling racist threats in Hebrew in houses and goods,” wrote the government of the Palestinian authority in X.
A resident who did not want to give his name confirmed to the AFP that an attack had taken place around 2 in the morning (1 hour, French time) and that at least two cars had been burned.
The photos on social networks show a wall labeled with registration: “Al-mughayyer, you will regret it”, which bears the name of a neighboring town, which has also undergone attacks in the past.
“Whether they are attacking a Christian village or Palestinian Muslim communities in shepherds, these extremist settlers can affirm that God has given them this land. But they are nothing more than criminals, rejected by all confessions,” the German ambassador reacted to Israel, Steffen Seibert.
Pilgrimage location
Taybeh is a Palestinian village of approximately 1,300 inhabitants, exclusively Christians, many of which have dual nationality, including Palestine-American. It is known that the people are a pilgrimage place, as well as for their brewery, the oldest of the Palestinian territories.
The United Nations document regular violence committed by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. In recent months, Taybeh has been attacked by numerous attacks, including the beginning of criminals, especially in an old Byzantine church.
In neighboring villages, in June and July, three people were killed and the wells were destroyed by the settlers, according to the Palestinian authorities. The American ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, went to Taybeh on July 19 and denounced the violence.
On July 23, more than 70 Israeli deputies voted for the Government to annex to occupied Bank. This text does not have the value of the law, but wants to affirm “the natural, historical and legal law” of Israel in this Palestinian territory. Almost half a million Israelis are installed in colonies, illegal with respect to international law, in this Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967.
