President Donald Trump again attacked the mayor of London Sadiq Khan, at a press conference in Scotland along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who intervened to remember that he was his “friend.”
Asked by a journalist about his intention to come to London in September during his visit to the State, Donald Trump responded affirmative, while immediately specified: “I am not a fan of his mayor. I think he does a bad job.”
“He is a bad guy,” the Republican continued, before Keir Starmer interrupts him, remembering with an ashamed laugh: “He is a friend of mine.”
But Donald Trump, imperturbable, to repeat: “I think he is doing a bad job.”
“A very bad job” against a “hard hard populism”
The relationship between the mayor of London, a job, such as Keir Starmer, and the American billionaire has always been marked by tensions.
A Sadiq Khan spokesman, head of the London City Council since 2016, said that the latter was “delighted that President Trump wants to come to the best city in the world.”
“You will see how our diversity makes us stronger, no weaker, richer and more poor,” he added.
In 2019, the US president said that Sadiq Khan, son of Pakistani and practitioners Muslim immigrants, was doing “very bad work on terrorism.”
For his part, the Labor Councilor accused Donald Trump of representing a “hard and law”, before giving his approval to the presence of a huge inflatable baby in the image of the US president during a demonstration in London in June 2019.
Last November, he accused Donald Trump of attacking him during his first mandate due to his “skin color” and his religion.
Donald Trump has been visiting a visit to golf, diplomacy and commercial discussions since Friday night. It will return to the United Kingdom for a state visit from September 17 to 19, the second for the Republican.
