It was “surrounded by all sides.” A Ukrainian soldier, injured in a Russian attack and trapped behind the enemy lines, spent five days blocked in Siversek, in northern Ukraine, before being evacuated by his military comrades in the most inventive forms. The man received, by drone, an electric bicycle, which allowed him to escape.
“Every day, I was surrounded by all the parties. It defended me the best I have been able to,” explains the soldier tank, his military indicative, in the video of the operation, which was transmitted by the Rubizh brigade, to which he belongs, on YouTube and transmitted by the international press, in particular the BBC.
“The enemy was everywhere”
“The enemy was in front, behind and on both sides, completely surrounded,” said the commander of the Mykola Hrysenko brigade in the video, as the Independent recounts, and added that “it was impossible to advance with the team, because the enemy was everywhere. He could not leave alone, because he had to walk 1.5 km to reach the closest position.”
The commander summarizes: “In his condition, with his wounds, he would simply have not survived.”
Therefore, the brigade had this idea: send, by drone, a 40 kg electric bicycle. He took three attempts and several attempts to rob from the Russian army for the mountain to reach the soldier.
He was able to do the first 400 meters, before riding in a mine, wounding with his leg and destroying his two -wheeled vehicles. After sending a second bicycle, he was able to join an evacuation point, salvations of life, far from the enemy lines. Between Russia and Ukraine, drones attacks continue to make victims.
In Siversk, where the oil tanker was injured, according to the reports, three people were killed by the Russian fire. “Our drones have seen us the best they could. Then they threw two gas sweets and a lighter directly in our hole. It set fire to us,” said the soldier in the video of his rescue.
