President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday, August 3, the visit of his special envoy Steve Witkoff in Russia “Wednesday or Thursday”, after establishing an ultimatum for the Russian president to end the war in Ukraine.
The emissary visit will take place “I am thinking next week on Wednesday or Thursday,” the US president told reporters.
Donald Trump also said that two nuclear submarines who had ordered deployment after an in line with former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev were now “in the region.”
He did not specify whether they were nuclear propulsion submarines or submarines equipped with nuclear eyelets. Nor did he give details about the exact places of his deployment, kept secret by the US army.
“Conclude an agreement for people to stop being killed”
This demonstration of force occurs when Donald Trump established at the end of this week the deadline on which Russia will have to take measures to end the war in Ukraine, under the penalty of new unspecified sanctions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has already met Steve Witkoff several times in Moscow, before Donald Trump’s efforts to restore relations with the Kremlin were abruptly interrupted.
The journalists who asked what Steve Witkoff’s message would be Moscow and if there was something Russia could do to avoid sanctions, Trump replied: “Yes, an agreement concluded for people to stop being killed.”
Donald Trump threatened to impose “secondary customs rights” to countries that continue to trade with Russia, such as China and India.
