kyiv says at least 438 children have been killed in Russian attacks since February

The Russian army has caused the death of at least 438 children in Ukraine since the invasion began on February 24, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office said Wednesday through the Telegram messaging network.

“Until the morning of November 23, 2022 [hoje]more than 1,279 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.

According to the same source, “438 minors were killed and 841 were injured.”

The Public Ministry also mentions that the numbers are not final because they are still working to determine the real number of victims in the areas where the “hostilities” continue.

Ukrainian prosecutors cannot confirm whether the killings took place in the territories that are still occupied or if they took place in recently reconquered areas.

The last victim among Ukrainian children occurred in the last hours.

A baby was killed after a Russian attack on a maternity hospital in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region, annexed by Moscow, kyiv’s relief services said on social media today.

“On the night of November 23, in the city of Vilniansk, in the Zaporizhia region, a two-story building where a maternity unit operated was destroyed by a rocket attack,” a rescue worker said in a message broadcast on the social networks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of “terror and death”, referring directly to the attack that hit the maternity hospital.

“The enemy has once again decided to achieve through terror and murder what it has not been able to do in nine months” since the February 24 invasion, Zelensky said.
