The Russian army has caused the deaths of at least 438 children in Ukraine since the invasion began on February 24, Ukraine’s attorney general said today via the Telegram messaging network.
“Until the morning of November 23, 2022 [hoje]”In Ukraine, more than 1,279 children have been affected as a result of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation,” the prosecutor’s office said.
According to the same source, “438 minors were killed and 841 injured”.
The OM also states that the figures are not definitive because work is still being done to determine the actual number of victims in the areas where the “hostilities” continue.
Ukrainian prosecutors cannot confirm whether the killings took place in the occupied territories or in recently recaptured areas.
The latest victim among Ukrainian children occurred in recent hours.
A baby has died after a Russian attack on a maternity hospital in Ukraine’s Zaporijia region annexed by Moscow, Kiev emergency services reported on social media today.
“On the night of November 23, in the city of Vilniansk, in the Zaporijia region, a two-storey building in which a maternity ward operated was destroyed by a rocket attack,” a rescue worker said in a message circulated on social media.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of “terror and death”, referring directly to the attack that hit the maternity hospital.
“The enemy has again decided to achieve through terror and murder what it has not been able to do in nine months,” Zelensky said.
