Note Arrival for Sergei Lavrov. A few hours before the meeting between the Russian and American presidents scheduled for Alaska this Friday, August 15, the Russian diplomacy head arrived in Anchorage dressed in a sweatshirt that looked what seems to be the inscription “CCCP”, the acronym for cirlory letters for “USSS”, which was part of Ukraine until 1991.
Sergei Lavrov briefly expressed to journalists, refusing to the slightest prediction on the result of the summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, who could seal Ukraine’s fate after three years of war.
“We never make plans in advance. We know that we have arguments, a clear and understandable position. We will present it,” said Russian Foreign Minister.
“This meeting will open the way to another”
For his part, the US president was more optimistic aboard his plane to Anchorage, with the knowledge of knowing in the maximum “five minutes” if his first meeting in person since 2019 with the Russian president would be a fiasco or not.
If everything goes well, the US president says that “this meeting will open the way to another”, three, including Volodymyr Zelensky. He suggested that this tripartite summit could be maintained very quickly.
