A 75 -year -old Japanese woman was arrested for keeping her daughter’s body in a freezer for 20 years, police said on Thursday, September 25.
On Tuesday, a woman went to the police with a family member to inform that she had maintained a body in her freezer and “that she was her daughter” born in 1975, a local police spokesman said.
Upon going to the house, located to the northeast of Tokyo, the researchers discovered the curved body of a woman, dressed in a shirt and underwear in the freezer.
“The body was in advanced decomposition”
Police said that “the body was in advanced decline” and that an autopsy was going to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
The woman, arrested for suspicion of abandonment of bodies, told investigators that the smell filled the house and then bought the freezer to place her daughter’s body there, according to the police spokesman.
This woman, who had several children, lived alone since the death of her husband a few weeks ago, said the police spokesman.
