A Spaniard was injured by a bear in a Japanese tourist village, said a local official on Monday, October 6, a few days after the death of two people in other attacks also attributed to bears.
The 44-year-old tourist was attacked while walking towards a bus stop on Sunday in Shirakawa-Go (Center), a Unesco World Heritage site recognized by its large traditional houses with roofs with straw roof, AFP Kazunari Takashima, a village manager, to the AFP.
The man “had a scratch with his right arm, then went to the nearby tourist office,” Takashima added, adding that the tourist left the hospital on the same day. The animal, which measures approximately one meter, would be a young black bear.
Two dead in one day in bears attacks
After this incident, the village closed the roads of the region while the police patrolled and the municipality urged “tourists not to take photos in forbidden areas.”
The attacks attributed to Bears left two dead on Friday.
