The remains returned by Hamas on Sunday, November 2, were identified as those of three Israeli soldiers kidnapped on October 7, 2023, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office reported on Monday, November 3, bringing to 20 the number of dead hostages returned by the Islamist movement out of a total of 28 that it must hand over.
“After completing the identification process by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, in cooperation with the Israeli police and the military rabbinate,” the army “informed the families of the fallen hostages (…) that their loved ones have been repatriated to Israel and identified,” the office said in a statement.
The dead were identified as American-Israeli Captain Omer Neutra, 21 years old when he was kidnapped, Corporal Oz Daniel, 19 years old, and Colonel Assaf Hamami, 40 years old, the highest-ranking officer to fall into the hands of Hamas.
