Buckingham Palace announced this Thursday at the end of the day: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral.” In the process, the British television channel BBC interrupted its programs. Black suit and tie to express mourning -as required by the protocol of the audiovisual group-, the presenter transmitted the information in a serious tone.
Following this solemn announcement, the national anthem was broadcast, followed by a few-minute tribute to the sovereign.
“A Severe Sense of Duty”
“The death of Queen Elizabeth II ends the longest reign in British history. The Queen dedicated her life to serving the British people, displaying a relentless sense of duty. Elizabeth II’s reign was unmatched in the history of Great Brittany.”, Declaimed the presenter in tribute to the sovereign.
After the death of Isabel II, her son Carlos automatically becomes king. “The King and Queen Consort will stay at Balmoral tonight and return to London tomorrow,” the palace said in its statement. The flag is lowered to half-staff at Buckingham Palace, in front of which the crowd falls silent and some break into tears.
