A South Korean woman, who was arrested earlier this month for the alleged murder of two children whose bodies were found in suitcases, has been extradited to New Zealand, the South Korean justice ministry announced on Tuesday.
The 42-year-old South Korean national, born in New Zealand and identified only by her surname Lee, was handed over to New Zealand authorities Monday night at Incheon International Airport along with evidence collected by police, the news agency said. Korean Yonhap.
The woman was arrested in mid-September in Ulsan, 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, at the request of New Zealand police via Interpol.
“The suspect is charged by New Zealand police with the murder of two of her children, then aged seven and ten, in 2018 in the Auckland area.”according to a South Korean police statement released at the time of the arrest.
The bodies were found in August in two suitcases that were part of a trailer full of items a family had bought at an auction of abandoned properties in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city.
