“Gradually, in a short period of time, electricity is returning to consumers. Communications and the Internet are also coming back,” Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odessa regional military administration, said in a television interview reported by Ukrinform.
He added that “the operational situation in the Odessa region remains difficult” and assured that the engineers “are working tirelessly, as is the operational command of the regional military administration.”
He also said that 206 emergency brigades are working in all affected areas to restore electricity, communications and the internet to consumers.
The most affected area is the city of Odessa and surrounding districts, while serious damage was avoided in the rest of the region, he said.
At the same time, despite the shelling, the water supply and sewerage, both in the center and in the region, did not stop working.
“Our hospitals and maternity wards, as well as our critical infrastructure facilities, are fully operational. Urban electric transport is not working due to the heavy load on the network. We are getting out of the situation thanks to the taxis and collective buses, ”he said. indicated.
The DTEK energy consortium had reported on Saturday morning that all subscribers in the city of Odessa, with the exception of critical infrastructure, had lost power due to Russian attacks on power facilities overnight.
Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky on Saturday alluded to the “acute shortage” of power in several regions due to Russian attacks, especially in Odessa, where more than 1.5 million people are without power.
