A humanitarian flight with 170 Ukrainian refugees arrives in Lisbon this Thursday and, a few hours after landing in Portugal, will leave again for Moldova with 15 tons of basic necessities.
This humanitarian flight is part of the “Check-In Esperança” initiative, the result of a partnership between the Portugal-based organization Refugees from Ukraine UAPT and the company Leroy Merlin.
In a joint statement, the promoters of the initiative mention that among the 170 refugees there are women and children, specifically babies in arms, as well as pets.
For the UAPT of Refugees of Ukraine, which provides support to refugees from the war in Ukraine, this flight has “an even more relevant meaning because it is the last humanitarian flight to be carried out and because it takes place days before Christmas”.
A few hours after landing in Portugal, the plane will depart again for Moldova with 15 tons of essential goods, such as heaters, generators, hygiene products, among others, which will be transported in humanitarian trucks to kyiv, where they will be distributed by the population. according to the identified needs.
The refugees who will arrive in Portugal this Thursday will settle in the Lisbon region, with the UAPT Ukrainian Refugees being responsible for accommodation, while integration into the labor market will be in charge of Leroy Merlin.

Right now, 17.7 million Ukrainians need humanitarian aid and 9.3 million need food aid and shelter.
The UN presented as confirmed since the beginning of the war 6,755 dead civilians and 10,607 wounded, stressing that these figures are far below the real ones.
