Ukrainian authorities this Tuesday denounced the deaths of at least five civilians in attacks by Russian troops on land over the past 24 hours, namely in the regions of Donetsk and Kherson, whose annexation is claimed by Moscow.
In the past 24 hours, at least three civilians have been killed and five others wounded in Russian artillery strikes in the Donetsk region (eastern Ukraine), the deputy head of the Ukrainian presidency’s office, Kirilo Tymoshenko, reported via the Telegram platform.
In the Kherson region (southern Ukraine), where bombings also took place, two people were killed and three others were injured, in attacks that the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicated were carried out from the eastern shores of the Sea of Azov.
All Monday, Russia bombed at least nine regions of the country, including the capital Kiev, which was again attacked using ‘drones’ (unmanned aerial vehicles) that again hit local energy infrastructure.
Russia, even without completely conquering them, claimed the annexation of four regions in the south and east of Ukraine – the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk and the regions of Kherson and Zaporijia.
These have been the target of attacks from both sides in recent months and this Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that these areas live in an “extremely difficult situation,” in statements in a video intended for Federal Security Service officials ( FSB, heir to the KGB), the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and the Senior Officials Protection Service (FSO).
The military offensive launched by Russia on February 24, which is still ongoing, has already displaced more than 14 million people inside and outside Ukraine. underlines that these figures are far from the real ones.
