The 11 deaths occurred in four states and occurred as a result of the dangerous and potentially deadly conditions caused by the extremely low temperatures that have plagued the country for several days.
According to information from Kansas state authorities, three people have died in car accidents related to bad weather in the past, CNN reported.
In the state of Missouri, one person has died after the vehicle he was riding in skidded on the asphalt and fell into a frozen creek.
In Ohio, four people were also killed in a car crash, while several others were injured.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear confirmed the death of two more people in a car crash, as well as the death of a homeless person in the city of Louisville.
According to US media reports, weather forecasts indicate that the storm will bring heavy snow, wind and blizzards and even flooding to some parts of the northeast coast in the coming hours.
For now, there is no rest in sight until after Christmas Day, CNN reported.
More than a million people were without electricity in several states, especially in the Northeast region, which includes states such as New York, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
Weather conditions also led to the cancellation of more than 5,000 flights and the delay of another 10,000 flights through Friday.
