Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assured this Saturday that his country “will not forgive” Russia for the invasion and bombing, following new attacks that hit Kiev and other cities, leaving dozens injured and at least one dead.
“No one will forgive your terror. No one in the world will forgive you. Ukraine will not forgive you,” Zelensky wrote in Russian on Telegram.
The Ukrainian president guaranteed that “those who order such attacks” and “those who carry them out” will not be forgiven.
Russian forces again attacked several Ukrainian cities on Saturday, firing 20 missiles, including from bombers, 12 of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses, the head of the Ukrainian General Staff, Valery Zaluzhny, said.
“The enemy launched more than 20 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers in the Caspian Sea and from land-based missile systems. Our air defense forces destroyed 12 missiles,” Zaluzhny wrote on the Telegram network.
Several cities, including Kiev, were the target of these Russian attacks, which left at least one dead and 30 injured, on the day Russian President Vladimir Putin said 2022 was a year of “difficult and necessary decisions” for Russia, but that allowed the country to “attain full sovereignty”.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – justified by Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – has been condemned by the international community at large, which has responded with military, economic and humanitarian aid to Kiev and imposing on Russia against unprecedented political and economic sanctions.
The military offensive in Ukraine began on February 24 and is still ongoing.
