According to the senator, the participation of the Russian delegation in Lula da Silva’s inauguration is a sign of respect and a sign that Russia is interested in “continuing to actively develop relations” with Brazil.

The President of the Russian Senate added that she discussed with Lula the series of bilateral relations between the two states.
“We should especially emphasize that we remember the time when the President of Brazil was the now re-elected Lula, when close and constructive relations were established between our countries, reaching the level of a strategic partnership,” he underlined.
Matviyenko noted that the Brazilian head of state participated in the creation of the Brics group of countries.
