Ukraine war: Moscow accuses Kyiv of having attacked two power plants under Russian control

Russian officials claim that the Ukrainian military damaged two thermal power plants, located in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, by rocket fire.

Two thermal power plants located in the Donetsk region of Ukraine and placed under the control of the Russian army, were damaged by rocket fire from the Ukrainian army, Moscow-installed political officials and the Russian state news agency TASS.

The officials said on their Telegram accounts that the attack on the Zuhres and Novyi Svit power plants resulted in injuries. According to TASS, two people remain trapped in the rubble at one of the two sites.

End of Russian “ceasefire” on Saturday night

No comment could be immediately obtained from Ukrainian authorities. They never claim their offensives on Russian soil or on Russian-controlled Ukrainian territories.

The ceasefire decreed unilaterally by Moscow on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas ended last night. Despite this truce, shelling broke out in the Ukrainian city of Bakhmout on Saturday. Ukraine saw it as proof that Russian promises had not been kept, while Moscow spoke of a response to the Ukrainian fire.
