UK GDP growth slows to 0.1% in November

UK Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth slowed to 0.1% in November, from 0.5% in October, due to an increase in the service sector, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported on Friday. ).

The agency said the services sector grew 0.2% in November, while industry fell 0.5% and construction was unchanged.

According to the ONS, GDP grew in November due to consumption in bars and restaurants during the World Cup in Qatar.

However, GDP contracted 0.3% in the three months to November.

ONS director of statistics Darren Morgan said that despite growth in November, the economy has slowed in recent months due to an added public holiday for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September.

Next month, the statistics institute will release GDP data for the last three months of 2022 and on an annual basis.

This information was published after the British Finance Minister, Jeremy Hunt, indicated in November that the United Kingdom had already entered a recession.
