Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced his “intention” to supply Patriot missiles to Ukraine on Tuesday during an interview with US President Joe Biden in Washington.
“Nous avons l’intention de nous associer à ce que vous faites avec l’Allemagne sur le projet Patriot”, at-il depuis depuis la Maison Blanche, indiquant avoir également échangé avec the chancelier Olaf Scholz “ce matin” sur la question.
A promise hailed by Joe Biden
Mark Rutte cited the “terrible images” of a building destroyed by a Russian attack on Saturday in Dnipro, saying they “further strengthen our determination to support Ukraine.”
Joe Biden welcomed the Dutch prime minister’s announcement and denounced the Russian actions “which seem hardly credible.”
The United States announced at the end of December that it would provide a Patriot anti-aircraft defense system to Ukraine, during the visit of President Volodymyr Zelesnky to the US federal capital.
Berlin had also agreed to deliver one of these American-made systems on January 5.
