Russia denied on Friday that the troops participating in the military campaign in Ukraine are facing a shortage of ammunition and missiles, and assured that the country has even increased the production of war material.
“It is complete nonsense what our enemies say about Russia: ‘that we are running out of missiles, ammunition and other things,'” Serguei Chemezov, general director of the state concern Rostec, said in an interview with Russia’s official RIA Novosti news agency. .
Rostec brings together more than 800 companies, many from the military industry, where a total of 600,000 people work.
Chemezov added that, on the advice of the Ministry of Defense, the concern “increased the production of ammunition several times, in some cases dozens of times.”
Even so, the official admitted “to be high” spending on ammunition “of all kinds”: bullets for small arms, artillery shells, for tanks and also missiles.
On the other hand, he stressed that the main effort of the companies of the Rostec consortium is focused on complying with the requests of the Russian Ministry of Defense and that they have no intention of “giving up positions in the international arms market.”
The Rosoboronexport company, a Russian arms exporter (part of the Rostec consortium), “will continue to work on the orders provided by the head of state (Vladimir Putin) and by the government,” Chemezov added.
“In general, I can say that we are complying, despite the obstacles that enemy countries place on us. We are not going to give up our position in the world arms market, ”he said.
In the last 10 years, Russia has annually exported around 15 billion dollars in arms, of which 13 billion correspond to sales operated by Rosoboronexport.
