“During the 346 days of this war, I have often said that the situation at the front is difficult. And the situation is getting more and more complicated,” Zelensky said in his daily message.
“Now we are at such a moment again. A moment when the occupying forces are increasingly mobilizing their troops to break our defenses. It is now very difficult in Bakhmut, Vouledar, Lyman and other regions,” added the Ukrainian head of state.
“The enemy is regrouping in certain areas. It is concentrating its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the directions of Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka,” the Ukrainian Defense Ministry warned shortly before.
In the Donetsk region, “massive” artillery fire this morning hit Avdiivka on the eastern frontline after Kramatorsk, another city highly coveted by the Russians, was hit by rockets overnight, Ukrainian authorities said.
According to the same sources, bombs fell on “civil infrastructure” in the territory of 26 places in the last 24 hours in the southern province of Zaporijia alone.
Attacks also continued in Kherson, a major southern city that was captured and then abandoned by the Russians.
The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 last year, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since World War II (1939-1945).
