Volodymyr Zelensky said in the European Parliament this Thursday that “Russia wants to destroy the European way of life and make xenophobia a normality on our continent”, accusing the Kremlin of being an anti-European force.
The Ukrainian president began his speech by thanking the attention paid to Ukraine. “Thank you for your energy and determination. Dear European leaders, each of you represents millions of people on our continent. Your attention reflects the modern Europe, the Europe of peace and the European way of life, where the rule of law prevails and borders are not violated and it is possible to move from one country to another in the sense that there is no border For Ukraine it will be a homecoming, a way for us to return home I am here to celebrate the return home of Ukrainians, so that we can jointly benefit from this common interest”he claimed, accusing Vladimir Putin of using the 140 million Russians as “cannon fodder”.
“It is integrity that inspires us. It is what we do for our children and our grandchildren. We are guided by peace and security. This will only be possible if we succeed in destroying the forces that are trying to destroy the European project. That will lead us to victory. Each of us can make an important contribution to the common victory.”he added, with a special word of thanks to the President of the European Parliament.
“I want to thank everyone who has sent us ammunition, equipment, fuel. I want to thank you in particular, Roberta [Metsola]how you defended the European way of life”emphasized Zelensky, highlighting how “Europe has reduced its dependence on Russian fossil fuels and the power of Russian oligarchs.”
The Ukrainian president also promised that “the European Union will become stronger” with Ukraine’s accession.
