The Prime Minister of Moldova, Natalia Gavrilita, resigned from her position this Friday, causing the fall of the Government, justifying the decision with the various crises caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
At a press conference held today, Gavrilita said that “the time has come to announce his resignation”, adding that no one expected that his government, elected in the summer of 2021, “would have to manage so many crises caused by the Russian aggression in Ukraine “.
The outgoing prime minister’s tenure was marked by a series of problems, including a sharp energy crisis, skyrocketing inflation and various incidents, including missiles crossing her airspace.
The president, Maia Sandu, will appoint a new government, but the executive must still be approved by parliament.
