A computer attack on several NATO websites on Sunday evening left the website of the Alliance’s special operations headquarters temporarily unavailable, the organization said.
“NATO’s cyber experts are actively addressing an incident affecting some alliance sites. NATO regularly deals with cyber incidents and takes cyber security very seriously”says an official of the organization to the German news agency DPA.
The statement comes after social media reports suggested pro-Russian hackers attacked several websites, including the NATO Special Operations Headquarters website, making it temporarily inaccessible.
According to the same reports, the attackers could also include the Russian hacker group Killnet, which has been linked to other recent attacks, including the “site” of the German parliament (Bundestag), the data protection authority said.
