Armed Forces have more than 1,700 ‘drones’ and 3,500 soldiers trained to use them

The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and responsible for the Digital Transformation portfolio, Mikhailo Fedorov, stated this Monday that the Ukrainian armed forces have already contracted 1,765 unmanned aerial vehicles under the so-called “Drone Army”.

“This is a technological war, it is necessary to use unmanned aerial vehicles more effectively and save the lives of our soldiers. That is why the ‘Drone Army’ project was created”, said Fedorov, quoted by Ukraine’s Ukrinform news agency.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister the ‘Drone army’ has already received more than 85.5 million euros and about 3,500 soldiers have been trained to handle unmanned aircraft.

Despite these figures, the Ukrainian representative pointed out that the armed forces still need more of these types of devices, referring specifically to “drones” with a field of view of up to 50 kilometersS to observe Russian movements from a greater distance.

The “Drone Army” is an initiative promoted by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, which aims to acquire dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles, a type of weapon that has become key in the war against Russia.
