Three Russian military planes intercepted near the border with Poland

Three Russian military planes were intercepted by two Dutch F-35 fighter jets as they flew over the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, near the border with Poland.

“After identification, it turned out that there were three aircraft: a Russian IL-20M Coot-A that was being escorted by two SU-27 Flankers,” the Dutch Defense Ministry was quoted as saying by Reuters.

“Dutch F-35s escorted the formation from a distance and handed over the escort to NATO partners.”

Eight F-35s from the Netherlands are deployed to Poland until March to participate in NATO patrols and a training program.
