Six rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, the Israeli army said, hours after carrying out an operation in the occupied West Bank that killed 11 Palestinians.
The attacks were not immediately claimed.
The Israeli army said five of the rockets fired at the cities of Ashkelon and Sderot were intercepted. One of them landed in an open field. There were no reports of damage or casualties.
Israeli security forces said they were on high alert, while Hamas in Gaza said patience was “running out.” Islamic Jihad, for its part, has vowed to retaliate.
