Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned Monday that Western powers supplying Ukraine with weapons would only increase the risk of a global nuclear catastrophe.
In an article in the Russian newspaper ‘Izvestia’, Dmitry Medvedev stressed that the “supply of arms to the neo-fascist regime in Kiev” makes it impossible to resume peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Our enemies do just that [fornecer armas à Ucrânia]don’t want to understand that their goals will obviously result in a total fiasco”said Medvedev, also vice chairman of the Russian Security Council.
“Loss for all. Collapse. Apocalypse. Obscurity for centuries, until the smoke blocks no longer emit radiation,” said the former Russian president, referring to a nuclear catastrophe.
Medvedev emphasized that if Russia’s survival is threatened at any time, that “under no circumstances will be decided” on the Ukrainian front, but would be a matter that would go hand in hand with the “future existence of the entire human civilization”.
“We don’t need a world without Russia,” insisted Medvedev, who also assured Moscow “will not allow this.”
“We are not alone in this effort, Western countries with their [países] satellites make up only 15 percent of the world’s population. We are much more and we are much stronger,” Medvedev concluded.
