Charles III removes Harry and Meghan’s British home

King Charles III retired from his son Harry and daughter-in-law Meghan Markle, who live in the United States, the usufruct of Frogmore Cottage, the couple’s residence in the United Kingdom, following the publication of the prince’s controversial book, revealed The Sun on Wednesday fair.

According to the British tabloid, Buckingham Palace sent an “expulsion order” to the couple, who left the UK in 2020 and have since carried out numerous attacks on the royal family.

Frogmore Cottage was given as a wedding present by Queen Elizabeth II to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2018. The five-bedroom residence is close to Windsor Castle in West London.

The renovation work that the couple did, of more than 2.4 million pounds (2.71 million euros), financed with public money, caused a scandal and Prince Harry had to repay the amount.

Still following The sunCharles III has not proposed a new residence to the Dukes of Sussex, meaning they will not have a royal residence on their few visits to the UK.

This decision appears to be in retaliation for the publication earlier this year of the memoir “Spare”, in which the youngest son of the British monarch deals with his family.

Harry and Meghan’s unofficial biographer, Omid Scobie, quoted a source, writing on Yahoo News that the couple had “until early summer to leave the house.”

“Initially they were only given a few weeks, but now they have at least until after the coronation,” he said in May, adding that the couple did not yet know if they would be invited to Carlos’s coronation.

Scobie also quoted a friend of the pair as saying “it all feels very terminal and brutal punishment”. “It’s like (the royal family) wants to take them out of the picture forever,” he said.

O The sun also reported that the King will have asked Prince Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage. The idea is to cut the expenses of his younger brother, who currently lives in a luxury property in Windsor.
