The mobilization against the pension reform aims to “paralyze France”

In France, the pressure to stop the pension reform law increases with a massive mobilization this Tuesday, March 7 with a view to “paralyzing France.” This will be one of the most difficult days, predicted the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune. The leaders of the trade union movement announced massive strikes with the possibility of renewal in all sectors.

The strikes began last night in sectors such as energy and heavy transport, to paralyze the economy and affect the largest number of sectors.

The CGT union center launched an appeal to the workers of the energy sector, who began the strike movement on Friday. The intention is to reduce the energy load in the power plants and leave the energy system at the alert threshold without reaching power outages.

The transport of heavy goods has been stopped since Sunday night with protest actions throughout the territory. The objective is to block the trucks and the merchandise they transport to reach shops and companies.

The idea is to leave the country suspended. For Patricia Drevon, Força Operária’s confederal secretary, the government still does not want to listen to the French.

“We made various proposals and none were heard by the government. From the moment the government does not want to hear that we do not want tax extensions and the legal age to retire, negotiation is not possible”, warned the trade unionist.

“There is no dialogue, nor openness with the government, which leads us to respond with this hardening of the protest movement. We raise a tone because we call for the strike and the paralysis of the country. The only way for the government to listen to us.” “, he defended.

The public, rail and air transport network is being greatly affected, with one in five trains running normally throughout the day. The Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, asked the French on Tuesday to keep teleworking. “Regarding public transport, I invite everyone who can stay in teleworking to do so. We are working and dialoguing with the union forces so that the environment is less tense and that there is no strike”, defended Clément Beaune.

According to the CGT union, this Tuesday is a day of stoppage in companies, administrations, services, commerce and schools. The strikes could be renewed in the coming days to stop the government’s proposal to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 years.
