The president consolidated power after the National People’s Congress (APN), China’s highest legislative body, appointed him for a third term, until 2028, unprecedented among his predecessors, after a constitutional reform carried out in 2018 in which removed the term limit. two consecutive five-year terms for Chinese heads of state.
In this way, the President’s control over the three arms of power was strengthened: the State, the PCC and the Army.
The plenary session also approved the appointments of Han Zheng (vice chairman) and Zhao Leji (chairman of the NPC Standing Committee).
At the end of the polls, Xi, Han, and Zhao proceeded to swear an oath to the Chinese Constitution.
