An independent production by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, “Everything Everywhere at the Same Time” won the Oscar for Best Picture at the 95th Academy Awards of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

João Gonzalez’s “Ice Merchants”, the first Portuguese film nominated for an Oscar in Hollywood, was nominated in this category along with “The Flying Sailor” by Amanda Forbis and Wendy Tilby, “My Year of Dicks” by Sara Gunnarsdóttir , and “An Ostrich Told Me The World Is Fake And I Think I Believe It” by Lachlan Pendragon.
In an interview with the Lusa agency on Sunday, João González said that “this nomination was already a great victory.”
The Oscars celebrated their 95th edition tonight at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, in a ceremony that saw the short film “Ice Merchants” by Portuguese João Gonzalez, nominated for Best Animated Short Film.
“Ice Merchants” was the first Portuguese film nominated for an Oscar.
