Russian diplomacy denounced this Friday the issuance of an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court, which presumes him responsible for the war crime of “deportation” of children from Ukraine.
“The decisions of the International Criminal Court do not make sense for our country, even from a legal point of view” because Moscow has no obligation towards it, Russian diplomacy spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on Telegram, without referring to by name. Vladimir Putin in his message.
“Russia is not a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and has no obligation under it,” Zakharova said, adding that Moscow “does not cooperate” with the court.
Moscow in turn denounces
Russian diplomacy has warned that “the (arrest warrants) issued by the International Criminal Court will be legally insignificant” for Russia.
Same speech in the Kremlin: according to the Russian presidency, the arrest warrant has no legal value.
On the Ukrainian side, the presidency welcomed this arrest warrant. “This is just the beginning,” replied the head of the presidential administration Andriï Iermak on Telegram. The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office hailed a “historic decision”.
