Former US President Donald Trump predicts he will be arrested Tuesday by the New York attorney general in the case of alleged payments to women for sexual encounters, the AP reports.
Trump declared on his social network that “illegal leaks” from the Manhattan district attorney’s office indicate that “the candidate for leader and former president of the United States will be arrested next Tuesday.”
In light of this announcement, Trump urged his supporters to demonstrate.
New York prosecutors have been making security preparations in case charges are brought against Trump.
So far, there has been no public announcement of a deadline for completing the grand jury’s work on the case, including any potential vote on whether to indict the former president for those crimes.
