Russian President Vladimir Putin today denied a possible military alliance with China in the Ukraine war, and guarantees that his relations in this area with Beijing are limited to general cooperation.
Vladimir Putin clarified the rumors that pointed to a possible military connection between the two countries, regarding the war in Ukraine, after the visit to Moscow of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
“We maintain a relationship in the field of technical-military cooperation, we do not hide it, but it is transparent, there is nothing secret,” said the President, in an interview with Rossiya 24 collected by the TASS and Interfax agencies.
The Russian president insisted that what Russia has with China “is not a military alliance. It is absolutely false.”
On the other hand, Vladimir Putin accused the United States of carrying out a plan to “globalize” its alliances, in an international coalition beyond the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. [NATO na sigla em inglês] against Russian interests, in the style of the Axis powers during World War II, in relation to Hitler’s German Reich, Italy and Japan.
“What is the US doing? They are creating more and more new alliances, and that gives Western analysts and politicians reason to say that the West is building new ‘axes,'” he added, in an interview.
The Russian president recalled that, in 2022, NATO agreed on a new strategic concept for the bloc’s development “where it is directly written that NATO will develop relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, with countries such as New Zealand, Australia and South Korea”.
“In this document they declare their intention to create a ‘global NATO.’ What do we call it?” he concluded.
