Two people have been killed when a hot air balloon caught fire while flying over the Teotihuacán pyramids in Mexico City. Three more are seriously injured.
In a statement, the regional government identified the victims only as a 39-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man, without specifying whether they were a couple of tourists: “The passengers jumped out of the balloon,” local authorities said. , adding that he suffered second-degree burns to his face as a minor, as well as a broken right femur.
According to the Mexican press, a family consisting of a father, mother and a teenage daughter hired the services of two tour guides from a company to observe Teotihuacán from above. The moment when the burning device flew over the area and fell was captured by several people using cell phone cameras.
