The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeri Zaluzhni, has personally asked the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the French Armed Forces, Thierry Burkhard, to send F-16 fighter jets.
Burkhard – who is visiting Ukrainian territory for the first time – met with the head of the Ukrainian armed forces at a meeting where they discussed the situation at the front and the needs of the Ukrainian army to repel Russian forces.
In Zaluzhni’s report, the Ukrainian commander-in-chief pointed out during the meeting the need to rely on artillery shells and other munitions, air defense equipment and F-16 fighters.
“France has agreed to continue cooperation and dialogue in the future. As far as we are concerned, the Ukrainian armed forces are ready to share experiences with allies in waging a large-scale war.”reported Zaluzhni.
After getting Germany to unblock the supply of Leopard tanks to Ukraine’s armed forces, Kiev made fighter jets a priority, trying to convince the Allies to give up their refusal to accept this request.
