Seven people, including a child, were killed on Saturday by an armed group that raided the water park in La Palma, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, local authorities said.
Police “arrived at the scene where they found shell casings and the bodies of three women, three men and a seven-year-old child,” Cortazar municipality reports.
“One person was also seriously injured,” he added in the statement.
According to the owner of La Palma, the armed group fled “with the security cameras and the monitor”.
The Mexican army and the public security forces of the state of Guanajuato launched an operation on all roads leading to the municipality, supported by a helicopter.
“The municipality regrets the events that have taken place and will provide the corresponding support to the families of those affected, reiterating its willingness to cooperate with the competent authorities in the hope that those responsible will be brought to justice,” the municipality stressed. .
According to testimonies collected on social networks, at least twenty people entered the group of people who were there and attacked them directly with firearms.
