The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has warned, this Monday, in Luxembourg, of the consequences “in all of Africa” if a “political solution” is not reached that ends the civil war in Sudan.
“Sudan is a country with a large population,” recalled the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, warning that this is one of the reasons why the international community “cannot allow [o país] impluda”, since “shock waves would be sent through Africa”.

“The international community, as a whole, must exert all the pressure on both sides to stop this war,” he defended, noting that he himself “has been talking to neighboring countries, [com] all partner friends, [e] even with the two generals commanding the troops.”
“The message from the international community is the same: we must stop the war, silence the weapons and start talking and look for a political solution, because there is no military solution to this war”, defended Josep Borrell.
In Sudan, the Armed Forces, under the leadership of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who has commanded the country since the 2021 coup, are confronting the militarized group under the leadership of General Mohamed Hamdane Dagalo. The latter also organized the military coup two years ago, but distanced himself from al-Burhan, becoming his enemy.
Diplomatic representatives from the European Union and various countries have unsuccessfully tried to mediate in the conflict, but the situation has continued to worsen, even putting the presence of civilian diplomats at risk.
Several European countries have already sent air resources to repatriate citizens of the European Union, taking into account the instability.
“Our personnel have to be withdrawn because they are in the middle of a war”, justified the head of European diplomacy, this Monday morning, admitting that “some of them were injured”, making it “impossible to continue working as diplomats, then the best thing to do (…) is to get them out.”
Asked why the head of the European Union diplomatic mission will remain on the ground, Borrell says that at this time the withdrawal is not yet planned and “he had to stay there.” [pois] the captain is the last to leave the ship”.
Josep Borrell said that the diplomat is out of danger and “is no longer in Khartoum”, despite the fact that he is still in Sudan.
