Erdogan announces that “presumed leader” of the Islamic State has been “neutralized”

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced this Sunday that the “presumed head” of the jihadist group Islamic State (IS) was “neutralized” this Saturday in Syria in an operation carried out by the Turkish intelligence services.

“The presumed leader of Daesh, code name Abou Hussein al-Qourachi, was neutralized during an operation carried out yesterday [sábado] by MIT (Turkish secret services) in Syria”, declared the Turkish head of state in a television interview.
