G7 finance ministers on Saturday reiterated their “firm commitment” to provide economic support to Ukraine and continue to apply sanctions against Russia, according to the closing statement from the three-day meeting in Niigata, Japan.
The G7, a group of the world’s most industrialized countries, “will continue to respond to Ukraine’s short-term financing needs”, as well as support “joint efforts to repair its critical infrastructure” and help neighboring countries affected by the refugee flow , referred to the joint statement adopted at the end of the meeting of finance ministers in Niigata, on the west coast of Japan.
The text also underscores the G7’s “unshakable will” to impose sanctions and other measures on Russia “to undermine its ability to wage the war” and to “counter any attempt to circumvent these restrictive measures”.
