Kiev claims attack on Russian ship in Turkish waters

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry on Friday claimed responsibility for attacking a Russian reconnaissance vessel in the Black Sea on Wednesday.

“When the Russian reconnaissance ship ‘Ivan Khurs’ encounters a Ukrainian ‘drone’,” reads the message from the Ukrainian ministry on the social network Twitter, which is accompanied by a video recorded by a camera mounted on the alleged maritime ‘drone’ has been installed. which, on the images, collides with the Russian ship, which was in Turkish waters.

The Russian Defense Ministry partially acknowledged the incident on Wednesday through a message posted on the Telegram platform.

“At 5:30 am today, the Ukrainian forces tried to attack the ship ‘Ivan Khurs’ with three unmanned high-speed boats, but without success,” Moscow said.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the three Ukrainian ships used in the attack were destroyed with conventional weapons, but the video released by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine shows how the alleged Ukrainian “drone” collided with the Russian ship .

The Russian government assured that at the time of the incident, the ship was conducting surveillance work on the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines, which carry Russian gas to Turkey.

Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, several incidents involving Russian warships or aircraft have occurred in the Black Sea.

The UN presented as confirmed 8,895 civilian deaths and 15,117 wounded since the start of the war, underlining that these numbers are far below the actual ones.
