A Russian attack on a clinic in Dnipro, a city in east-central Ukraine, on Friday killed at least two people and injured 23 others, including two children.
“Rocket attack on a clinic in the city of Dnipro. One person was killed and 15 others injured,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky initially stated on the Telegram social network.
Zelensky published a video in which you can see heavily damaged buildings covered in black columns of smoke.
“We must defeat these inhuman creatures,” Zelensky said of the Russian military.
Regional governor Sergey Lyssak said two boys, aged three and six, were among the injured.
“The rescue of the injured continues,” the governor added on Telegram, adding that the attack set two buildings on fire.
“The fire affected a total of 500 square meters. Firefighters are fighting the flames,” said Lyssak.
Ukrainian Telegram channels posted videos of rescuers helping the injured escape the clinic through rubble-strewn corridors.
According to Lyssak, the Dnipropetrovsk region was “heavily attacked” with “Russian missiles and drones” during the night and early morning of this Friday.
In Dnipro, the regional capital, nightly shelling set fire to several houses and a petrol station.
Since early May, Russia has stepped up its airstrikes against Ukraine, often at night.
Kiev has suffered 13 night attacks since the beginning of the month, according to authorities, who said they had repelled all attacks.
Across the country, the Ukrainian military announced it had shot down 10 of 17 missiles and 23 of 31 Shahed “drones” launched by Russia tonight.
The night before, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, all 36 Russian Shahed ‘drones’ had been destroyed.
