Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov on Tuesday urged the German government to send Taurus cruise missiles “as soon as possible” to counter offensives by the Russian army in the country.
Renikov assured that the number to be sent of this type of missile, which has a range of 500 kilometers, depends on the “ability of the German side to deliver them” and emphasized that “they are really needed”.
The minister recalled that in July 2022, Ukraine received several HIMARS missile launchers from the United States and Mars systems from Germany.
“Now we are asking for Taurus from Germany and SCALP from France,” explained Reznikov, who added that the German authorities had not yet made a decision on the matter.
The defense minister clarified that the partners “must first make a political decision, taking into account the weapons at their disposal and the prospect of being able to transfer them”.
