Kiev claims to take back a village 35 kilometers from Donetsk

The Ukrainian government announced on Sunday that its forces had recaptured the village of Blagodatne, some 35 kilometers south of the city of Donetsk, in recent hours.

The announcement was made by the adviser to the Ministry of the Interior, Anton Gerashenko, on the social network Twitter.

“The city was liberated by the Ukrainian army,” he announced in his message, accompanied by a video of Ukrainian troops erecting the national flag on the facade of the remains of a building half-destroyed by the fighting.

Personnel from the so-called 68th Separate Hunter Brigade Oleksa Dovbush were involved in the operation.

This unit published on its page on the social network Facebook photos of its presence in the village, which is located about 140 kilometers northwest of Bakhmut, one of the main points of focus of the current conflict.

“The invaders resisted to the end, but were unable to withstand the onslaught of the unstoppable wolves,” the unit’s message, reported by the Ukrinform news portal, said.

The unit also claims that several Russian military personnel have been captured and are now “providing information that will contribute to further liberation of Ukrainian territory”.
