The electric wave continues at full speed at Peugeot. The manufacturer is committed to electrifying all its models from 2023 and offering a fully electric version for each of its models in 2025. In particular its best sellers. During the “Peugeot e-lion day”, the event on these developments this Thursday, Peugeot promised to present an electric 3008 to the public this year.
This SUV will be the first Peugeot to be equipped with the new Stellantis STLA Medium platform. The manufacturer promises a range of 700 kilometers, enough to tip those who are reluctant to switch to electric due to the low mileage possibilities.
But above all, we should not expect a single engine, but three that should go from 115 kW or 156 horsepower to 300 horsepower. Among these versions, a four-wheel drive equipped with two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear.
After the E-3008, it will be the E-5008
The design of this new 3008 remains to be discovered. The secret is well kept so as not to spoil the surprise. During its event, Peugeot unveiled the aesthetic contours of the electric range, where this zero-emission 3008 is revealed in particular.
To be ready by 2035 to sell only new electric cars in Europe, as European law will dictate, Stellantis, Peugeot’s parent company, is hard at work. Its boss, Carlos Tavares, intends to achieve this goal by 2030 with 100% electric vehicles in Europe and 50% in the United States.
During the last Mondial de l’Auto held in Paris, the manager even promised that, from 2026, any new vehicle that is marketed in Europe will be an electric vehicle. This ambition is aimed at 11 of the 14 brands in the group, including Peugeot, Fiat, Citroën and Opel.
For Peugeot, the E-3008 will be the first in a series of five electric models. After the E-308, the E-308 SW will arrive, which will be the first European electric family car, the E-408, the E-3008 and the E-5008 that will be presented after the E-3008.
