Michelin launches a new aircraft tire at the Paris Air Show
Known for its car tires, Michelin also equips airplanes. The French company also took advantage of the Paris Air Show to announce the launch of its new Air X SKY LIGHT tire for commercial aviation.
The new tire is currently compatible with Falcon 10X private jets, but the company aims to develop other formats.
Airbus has no “urgent need” to launch a stretched version of the A220
Airbus commercial director Christian Scherer told an investor conference on Wednesday that the aerospace group did not have “an urgent need” to launch an enlarged version of the A220 jet.
Acquired from Canadian Bombardier in 2018, the A220 program has two versions (A220-100 and A220-300), single-aisle aircraft that are the smallest commercial aircraft sold by Airbus. Analysts and observers await the release of an elongated version of this device, which should be called the A220-500.
Asked about this possibility by an analyst, Christian Scherer confirmed that this new version would be “a natural evolution” for this range of aircraft. But the aeronautical group must first carry out the acceleration of the production of this device and stabilize it. And time is not pressing, according to him, because Airbus is in a situation in which “demand exceeds production” in this device.
At Le Bourget, aviation takes up the challenge of the climate transition
Sustainable fuel, electric planes, hydrogen… The decarbonisation of this sector often highlighted for its strong environmental impact is at the center of the discussions at the Paris Air Show.
While TotalEnergies has announced that it wants to produce half a million tons of “green” fuel by 2028 and that Canada will invest C$350 million in green aviation, the hydrogen issue divides aeronautics players.
IndiGo, Air India: Indian companies lead aircraft orders at Le Bourget
On Tuesday afternoon, the airline Air India confirmed an order for 250 Airbus, which includes 140 A320neo, 70 A321neo, 34 A350-1000 and 6 A350-900.

Both orders had already been announced in February.
