Singapore Airlines named best airline in the world, Air France in seventh place

Singapore dethrones Qatar. Singapore Airlines was named the best airline in the world by the latest Skytrax rankings, relegating Qatar Airlines to the second step of the podium. The Qatari company had clung firmly to the top spot for the past two years. The Japanese airline ANA All Nippon Airways occupies third place in this ranking, which since 1999 distinguishes the airlines best valued by passengers.

The top 10 is largely dominated by Asian and Middle Eastern airlines: Emirates (4th place), Japan Airlines (5th place), Cathay Pacific (8th place), EVA Air (9th place) and Korean Air (10th place).

For Europe, in a broad sense, we find Turkish Airlines in sixth place (the Skytrax ranking considers the Turkish company as part of the European region) and, above all, Air France in seventh place, which rises one position compared to the previous. year.

Asia and the Middle East dominate

As for low-cost airlines, which have their own track record, the Malaysian company AirAsia wins the award in 2023, followed by the Singaporean company Scoot (a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines) and the Indian company Indigo, which confirms a record order of 500 Airbus aircraft. Transavia France, a subsidiary of Air France KLM, ranks sixth, well ahead of flagships Easyjet (11th place) and Ryanair (13th place).

Beyond the prestigious Best Airline award, Skytrax also honored the best cabin crew, placing Indonesian airline Garuda Indonesia first, followed by Singapore Airlines and ANA All Nippon Airways. Once again, Asia and the Middle East dominate the 2023 ranking: Austrian Airlines (14th place) and British Airways (20th place) are the only European carriers in the top 20.
